Beyond Coastal – Natural Sun Protection Products
With all the natural skincare products out there, it’s about time that there be a line of sunscreen products that are made using natural ingredients. For so long, I’ve been making sure that the products I use on my children’s skin is safe for their sensitive skin, but not really thinking about what was in our sunscreen.

Beyond Coastal makes various types of sunscreen products – which are all gluten free, cruelty free, fragrance free, oxybenzone free, paraben free & oil free. The products are also fragrance free, which can be a huge irritant to some skin.

I was really excited to try out the Beyond Coastal line and received a kit full of different items: Active Sunscreen, Natural Clear Sunscreen, Natural Sunscreen- Kids, Active Face Stick, and Lip Balm.

Active Sunscreen: This is their best-selling sunscreen. It goes on smoothly and is perfect for outdoor activity & days of prolonged sun exposure.
Natural Clear Sunscreen: This sunscreen received the best ranking from the EWG {Environmental Working Group} in 2011. The sunscreen is water resistant & best for daily use on face and hands.

Natural Sunscreen- Kids: Love this for my kids – no harmful chemicals and the addition of aloe & shea butter to keep skin smooth.

Active Face Stick: I love this sunscreen stick! It’s the perfect thing to grab and use for quick applications – especially on squirmy preschoolers and babies!

Lip Balm: This beeswax-based balm with coconut oil and vitamin E protects your lips, repairs, softens and restores!

{Family Summer Activities} Discover Boating

As parent, I’m always looking for ways to create lasting memories and bond with my family. Looking back on my own childhood, I spent so many fond memories at the shore and boating with my grandfather. The time on the water is quality time. It provides the best opportunity for families to bond. In fact, 69% of boaters say that boating brings their families closer together. And considering that last year 83 million Americans chose boating , it’s clear that there is something about boating that creates a bonding experience. Boating can be for all types of personalities and budgets – whether you like a small fishing boat, or like hitting the surf in a larger boat, you can enjoy fishing, cruising, watersports and so much more.

Despite boating for most of my childhood, I admit it is intimidating to think of getting started with my own family. When I had the opportunity to check out Discover Boating, I was thrilled with how easy they make it easy for everyone to learn more about how to get started. The website leaves no stone unturned and answers every possible question. They have helpful resources, interactive tools and guides/tips. It’s the perfect place to get started on your boating adventure.

Here’s some of what I found extremely helpful:

Boat Selector Tool – Helps you understand the different types and sizes of boats and what might be best for you.

Marina and Ramp Locator – Find a marina close to you!

Try Before You Buy – You can research and even find out ways to try out a type of boat before you commit and buy.

Just for Kids: Games and activities to help get your kids excited about boating.

Head on over to www.DiscoverBoating.com to learn more!

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Discover Boating and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate

‘Get More Vacation’ with Embassy Suites
Before children and a family – vacations seemed easy to plan. A week here, a week there – we were able to really get away and enjoy a carefree vacation for as long as we wanted. Now, with hectic schedules, a budget, twins, a preschooler and the demands of careers, it’s been difficult to really ‘get away’ the way we used to. And we’re not the only ones who feel this way. Many families are in the same boat we are – finding it difficult to take that long, extended vacation for various reasons.

So what does the average family do these days? Embassy Suites, along with Parents magazine wanted to know that, too. They found out that the majority of families (56%) said they were vacation Dabblers – taking vacation days here and there throughout the year. Looking at how my family’s vacationing has changed, I would agree that we fit into that category too.

My little guy enjoying the beach in Rhode Island!
The last vacation we really took was a week in Newport, RI. We rented a beautiful home near the beach and relaxed for an entire 7 day/6 night stay. It was BLISS! We only had our son, and he was only 1. Life was easier and finances were different. Now, three years later, we have twins and a much different budget. Add in work obligations and trying to coordinate schedules, going away for an entire week just isn’t possible. We’ve had to find ways to take ‘mini-vacations’ and maximize the time we have.

You can find ways to make the most out of any type of vacation and it truly starts with where you choose to stay. One or two nights in a quality hotel with great amenities can be very relaxing and enjoyable, making it feel like a longer vacation. Embassy Suites is committed to helping families get MORE from their vacations and have the best experience possible. No matter how long or short the stay, Embassy Suites will make your vacation a high-quality experience – all at a family budget friendly rate.
