We sometimes don’t realize how truly fortunate we are. I am blessed to have enough to provide for my family, food on the table and a home we live in. The same cannot be said for all Americans. In fact, 1 in 6 Americans is currently fighting hunger. That’s far too many! It’s children that go to school without eating and to bed hungry. It often strikes those hardworking individuals who have lost their jobs and they are in your communities and often suffering in silence.
We can all help – and be part of an initiative, along with Unilever, to make a difference through the Cross Off Hunger Initiative
Unilever, through the Cross Off Hunger initiative, has a goal to donate two million meals to families in need working with Feeding America. This is all part of Unilever’s sustainable living goal to help one billion people improve their health and well-being.
I was definitely familiar with Unilever but really had no idea how many of the products were in my cabinets and pantry. Did you know that on any given day, more than 2 billion people use Unilever produts to look good, feel good and and get more out of life? There are more than 400 Unilever brands of food, health and well being products that are a part of the Unilever family of brands.
Some other brands include Knorr, Dove, Ben & Jerry’s, Axe, Hellmann’s, Q-Tips, Bryers, Country Crock, Ragu, Bertolli, and St.Ives, Vaseline, Degree – to name a few!
Unilever believes in working to inspire people to take small, everyday actions that add up to a big impact. For example, they seek to double the size of their company while reducing their environmental impact.
Cross Off Hunger Campaign
Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts. Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop. Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.
The best way to help and participate is to educate yourself and your family. As a former school counselor, I worked with students on service learning and this is a great way to do service as a family and give back to the community! Visit MakingLifeBetter and see how you can learn more about hunger in this country and what food banks are doing to help. You can see what items food banks really need, how they operate and test your Hunger IQ. One feature I’ll be using is the Food Bank Locator, to find my local food bank and contribute! I’ll feature my shop for my donation items here on the blog, which will include some of my favorite Unilever products to show my support of Unilever. I’ll then be donating to my local food bank. Be sure to check back for my post about my shopping trip and donation!
