When I was younger, I loved going for “afternoon tea.” It always made me feel like a little lady – so sophisticated. When I was in college, a trip to London solidified my love affair with tea and scones and all things associated with the oh-so-proper British tradition. I love a good scone with a nice cup of tea – and thanks to King Arthur Flour, I can now enjoy this favorite of mine at home whenever I like!
If you’re not familiar with King Arthur Flour – then you have no idea what you’ve been missing! Makers of fine products, tools, accessories and mixes for any type of baker – expert, novice, beginner -King Arthur Flour is all about quality. I love receiving their catalog – it inspires me as a novice baker who really wants to learn more. The oldest flour maker in the country (1790!), King Arthur Flour has perfected what they do – supporting and expanding all aspects of baking. I was first introduced to this company when they visited the school that I worked at to do an educational program. You can also attend a class at their Vermont location!
The Cream Tea Scone Mix was out of this world – from the amazing cinnamon filling to the yummy drizzled icing on top, these were so indulgent! A much sweeter, stickier scone, it made for a great dessert! I had reservations about making these scones because I was so unsure if my skill level would produce a good finished product. The directions and mixes are SO easy to use, that it was fool proof. The consistency, taste and overall quality were perfect. However, I wish had the scone pan and will purchase this scone pan from them before the next time I make scones.
The basic scone mix comes in a great resealable bag and what I love about this mix was that I can make a different scone each time and experiment with different ingredients. For my first batch, I used blueberries – as those are my favorite! They turned out great – rivaling my favorite tea house.
